By Land, By Foot
Scottish Munros & Corbetts.
By Land, By Foot’ is a body of work consisting of 8 original paintings, depicting the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, explored overland and by foot. (I have added a few additional Scottish works since completion)
The work helps us to discover our relationship to landscape, and the desire to go deep and high into Scotland’s rugged landscape using our feet. From short jaunts to overnighters under stary skies, to first timers to old hats, to warm fires and laughter in bothy’s with friends & strangers, to sandwiches and camping food, to shared experiences and story swapping, to being eaten alive by midges and wet boots, to glorious sunshine and being above the clouds, to incredible views and tired legs, to heather and cows, to carrying tents and checking the map 100 times, and finally to awe, peace and tired fulfilment.
These works are not only for those who live or have been to Scotland, coming away with memories deeply embedded in their souls, but it is for all those ‘dreamers’, ‘maybe next yearers’, ‘I’m not fit enoughers’ – Scotland is calling.
