Svalbard & Norway
Svalbard, Arctic Circle, Norway, March 2016
2016 saw a dream come true with my dad, as we both took to the arctic and visited the quiet and peaceful Svalbard. Svalbard, the land of the polar bear, is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean and situated north of mainland Europe, and is about midway between continental Norway and the North Pole.
I've had a long love affair with Norway and the surrounding wild lands, and it is a place I can see myself living. Nothing can prepare you for sights as you travel up the coastline into the arctic circle, where you experience only a few hours of pink/purple dawn and dusk. Norway also has a very admirable relationship with nature and it's land, along with a deep respect for it's ecology, one I think the rest of the world should adopt.
